Our Mission

Our Vision
"Is a vibrant, diverse lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans community in Birmingham in which individuals can realise their full potential and have equal access to all the city has to offer."

Our core purpose is to develop the capacity of the local LGBT community and to influence those organisations and services which affect the quality of life of its members through community engagement, advocacy and lobbying. We prioritise the promotion and development of services in Birmingham which meet the needs of gay men and lesbians who are younger, older and/or from Black and Asian backgrounds.

We will research, seek out or identify evidence and information which will validate and add weight to our main activities and help ensure credibility with both the LGBT community and service providers.

We will also, proactively and reactively, share information and signpost individuals and organisations to other sources particularly where this will enable other organisations to contribute to the process of improving quality of life for the LGBT community.

There is much to celebrate about our community but there are challenges too! The LGBT community is one of the least visible in Birmingham . One of the few tangible manifestations is the pubs and clubs in the Gay Village in and around Hurst Street. Birmingham LGB Community Trust is seeking to develop a community infrastructure beyond commercial venues with a community that has equality at it's heart, valuing our health, our social care needs, our legal rights and giving us a home across the whole city.

Our current priority work areas are

Health

Social care and housing

Homophobic bullying and education

Gay village regeneration

SHOUT Festival

Capacity Building LGBT Forum members

Gay Birmingham Remembered
